Here’s the scoop:
This rocking musical immortalizes the man who first spun the music of black and white musicians together on American radio. Inspired by actual events, Memphis is about DJ Huey Calhoun who falls in love with a black club singer and goes on a mission to unite a divided country through music. Winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Memphis was written by Joe DiPietro, the author of I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change and Over the River and Through the Woods, includes music from Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan and is directed by Christopher Ashley.
